Anastasia Pearse

As NCLN’s Western Campus Coordinator, Anastasia works to support and train pro-life students across Western Canada.   She has personally trained and educated hundreds of university and high schools students from Manitoba to B.C. and has also spoken at conferences, youth retreats and the B.C. March for Life, for which she also served as the 2012 media contact.  Living in the Vancouver area, she has become well known in the pro-life community and well respected for her tremendous passion and work ethic.

It was while enduring persecution for her pro-life beliefs at the University of Victoria that  Anastasia came to truly understand the vital importance of the pro-life cause and the necessity to actively promote it.  As the President of the pro-life club on campus, Youth Protecting Youth, she fought for the club’s right to exist amidst strong pro-choice opposition from the students’ society.  Through her perseverance and the support of club members and NCLN, Anastasia succeeded in keeping a vibrant pro-life presence on campus.

The club’s struggle, along with the lawsuit it initiated against the student society, led to national and regional media coverage from CBC, CTV and others. Alongside the B.C. Civil Liberties Association, which assisted the club during the lawsuit, Anastasia participated in a debate against Joyce Arthur of the Abortion Rights Coalition of Canada on whether or not the pro-life club had the right to exist.

Anastasia holds a degree in Recreation and Health Education and is currently pursuing a Masters of Leadership at Trinity Western University, specializing in non-profit organizations; in addition, she is competing for their varsity track and field team. She is excited to build her knowledge and skills in order to help NCLN and pro-life clubs become even more effective in promoting their life-affirming message.
