Queen's Alive: End of Fall Term

This post was written for Queen's Alive by Queen's Alive. It does not necessarily represent the views of NCLN.

Queen's Alive has had a very exciting and active fall semester!  Yesterday marked our final event for the semester, watching "October Baby" together as a club.  Here's a little update on our club's activities from the past couple months:

  • The Defund Abortion Mini-Rally went very well on October 13th.  Queen's Alive was well represented, as well as the Kingston pro-life community at large.
  • Silent Day reached over 1000 students at Queen's on October 16th.  We passed out sheets explaining our silence in solidarity with those that have been silenced through abortion.  Here's a photo from the day:

  •  We hosted bake sales at St. Paul the Apostle Church and at St. Mary's Cathedral during the last two weekends in October.  We raised almost $600 between the two weekends!  Thank you so much to everyone who baked, bought and donated.  Your support is very much needed and appreciated!
  • We had an apologetics session for those wanting to learn more about how to effectively defend the pro-life position on November 12th.
  • Our postering/pamphleting campaign went well from November 14-16th.  We put up this poster all over campus and handed out over 1000 pamphlets with the same message.  We had some interesting conversations with other students about personhood!
  • Finally, we watched "October Baby" together last night, as previously mentioned.
Thank you to everyone for a great semester!  Have a merry Christmas and a happy New Year, and we'll see you in January!

Queen's Alive: Defund Abortion!

This post was written for Queen's Alive by Queen's Alive. It does not necessarily represent the views of NCLN.

The 2012 Defund Abortion Kingston Mini-Rally will be taking place on Saturday at 11am, outside of MPP John Gerretsen's office, 303 Bagot Street suite #2.  There will be similar mini-rallies in local constituency offices all across Ontario.  At least 30 million dollars of taxpayer money goes to funding abortions each year in Ontario.  We need to speak up about this, and let our MPP's know that we don't want this to continue!
Check out this link for a short video about the mini-rallies!
I don't want to be paying for abortions -do you?

Queen's Alive: Life Chain

This post was written for Queen's Alive by Queen's Alive. It does not necessarily represent the views of NCLN.

Queen's Alive is off to a great start this year!  We had our first general meeting this past Monday to go over plans for the coming school year.  Tomorrow, four club members will be driving down to Toronto to attend the NCLN Symposium.  Additionally, Life Chain is coming up on Sunday.  Check out the following website for a little more information on Life Chain: http://www.campaignlifecoalition.com/index.php?p=Life_Chain.  It's an easy way to get involved in the pro-life movement -can you spare an hour of your time on Sunday to help save lives and change hearts?

Life Chain 2011 (Kingston, ON)
We've got lots planned for October, so be sure to check back for updates!
