Growing up, Clarissa had pro-life beliefs, but they didn’t become actualized until her university years. Feeling the need/call to be more articulate in the pro-life position after a particularly brutal bioethics class, she became an active member of the University of Toronto Students for Life club. She soon became the president of the club, and with the support of her club members and NCLN, she was able to increase the club’s vibrancy with regular, engaging, and visible (REV) activities. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Human Biology, Psychology, and Bioethics in 2011.
She began working full-time in the pro-life movement as NCLN’s first Central Campus Coordinator in May 2012. For four years, her main focus was supporting Ontario pro-life campus clubs and empowering their student leaders to effectively promote the pro-life message through NCLN’s resources, regular contact, and in-person visits, capturing it all on her phone’s camera. In September 2016, she became NCLN’s first Operations Director, focusing on the behind-the-scenes work to bring out the best in the front lines of the Pro-Life Student Movement.
In May of 2014, she married Arvic Canaria. They enjoy travelling to new places, following the Toronto Raptors, and serving their parish together.
